Who woulda thunk it?

Who would've guessed that, three years from the war-to-end-all-wars, these two people would be wed. Married. Joined in holy matrimony and all that jazz. But, believe me children, it's true.

Now, it was complicated. It started with the Avatar, who had a crush on the young waterbending girl. And, the boy, a young Fire Nation Prince, hated the girl because she always defended his greatest prize. Yet, in the midst of it all, the boy switched sides, joined the Avatar, and came to a settlement with the girl, though he had done many wrongs.

The boy had jumped in front of a lightening bolt to save her life, and this changed their relationship. It made the boy question his motives on the split second decision, and made the girl question her loyalty to the boy.

Yet, after the war, the two went their seperate ways. The boy went on to fufill his destiny as the Fire Lord and the girl went back to her Water Tribe home to help rebuild the community. The two never talked or saw each other for two years, when the Avatar sent a messenger hawk to the boy to say that the girl and him were engaged. And that the boy was to be the Avatar's best man.

The Avatar came and visited the boy then, and the girl tagged along, eager to see the Fire Nation again. But, when the Avatar had to leave on a second's notice, he left the girl in the boy's care until he returned to marry her.

And that's when things changed, children. They changed...

Suddenly, the boy realized that the girl was no longer a girl anymore. She was a woman, and a very beautiful one at that. Driven by selfless hormones, he started to grow on her, and they soon became close.

Slowly, the girl noticed the little characteristics in the boy. The way he smiled,  the way he carried himself in crisis, the way he talked differently to her than anyone else. He became a handsome man in her eyes, and the day before the Avatar returned to marry the girl...

Zuko proclaimed his love for Katara and she agreed to marry him over the Avatar.

Shocker, right?

The story, children, is kind of like bubbles. They are beautiful, and fun to play with, but, when you least expect it...

POP!
